NJ A1930 Update 12/31/04. So far, my inquiries to politicians, the media and chambers of commerce have ALL gone unanswered. I suggest that anyone interested in getting this law to do what it was intended to do "protect Native American and historical sites protected" and nothing else. Please start contacting the Governor and the NJ Assembly persons and NJ State Senators in your district and state your dissatisfaction with the way this law was amended. Find your local legislator here.

NJ A1930. If you are metal detecting in New Jersey, you may now be breaking the law! The state legislature recently passed A1930 and I seriouly suggest you read it carefully. Start contacting your local towns and find the name of the person authorized to grant or deny permission to detect. I would like to start building a database of goverment contacts if we can't get this stupid law amended. I am hoping we can get the law amended as it is very broad in scope and vague. First time penalties start at $750 and could include confiscation of equipment and vehicles used!
